Introducing Sigma AI

We're proud to introduce a new suite of AI-powered features coming to Sigma. From AI-enhanced input tables to autogenerated workbooks, we're making long-tail investments into the future of human-centric AI features that improve the experience of working with data.

At Sigma, we’re strong believers that the greatest intelligence is human intelligence. And while Large Language Models and general AI are going to dramatically reinvent the landscape of most software and human workflows, we wanted to make sure that functionality we introduced to Sigma actually enhanced our users ability to work, rather than distract from it.

Everyday we see how Sigma users are able to find real value in data once they have a tool that enables them to explore it in their own language - the spreadsheet. While others rush to replace that exploratory skill with AI, we see the much richer value AI provides when it enhances our exploration, rather than replaces it.

So in that light, we’re excited to announce our Early Access program for Sigma AI. 

What is Sigma AI?

Sigma AI represents our commitment to integrating the power of Artificial Intelligence within the Sigma platform. This initiative is more than just a feature; it's an evolution of the Sigma experience, designed to incorporate AI in a way that is simultaneously meaningful, helpful, and contextually appropriate.

Sigma AI brings the promise of three key initial features:

Input Tables AI by Sigma Computing
  • Input Tables AI: This early release feature allows you to construct AI-generated input tables for tasks such as sentiment analysis, auto-fill & clean, classification, and more. It's focus is to leverage AI to streamline data handling, whether it's normalizing discrepancies, augmenting your data, segmenting a column into user-defined categories, assigning sentiment to text, or extracting entities from a column.
Natural Language Workbooks by Sigma Computing
  • Natural Language Workbooks:  A natural language workbook initiative that aims to use human generated text to easily generate workbook elements within Sigma, making it dramatically easier for anyone to perform analysis without extensive technical knowledge.
AI Helpbot by Sigma Computing
  • Helpbot: a Sigma AI bot designed to provide quick assistance to users by indexing all help articles and community posts. This bot will answer user queries swiftly, improving their Sigma experience.

Where are we investing our efforts? 

When approaching developing AI features into Sigma we wanted to ensure that they achieved an actual goal that our users can benefit from. We’ve seen multiple examples of nonproductive forms of “AI”-based applications that simply bolt the model into the experience without actually providing a meaningful enhancement to the overall user experience. 

With Sigma AI, we're focused on three vital areas:

Productivity

Sigma AI helps users achieve more, faster. The Input Tables - AI Assist feature automates tasks like sentiment analysis, auto-fill, clean, classification, and extraction. This not only speeds up processes but also minimizes human error, enhancing data reliability.

Usability

Sigma AI makes advanced AI accessible to all. Our Natural Language Query feature simplifies complex analytics into natural language requests. The Helpbot provides quick, AI-guided responses to user questions, streamlining the Sigma experience.

Helpfulness

Sigma AI delivers actionable insights. Functions like column segmentation, sentiment assignment, and entity extraction offer valuable data insights. The Helpbot provides instant access to relevant help articles and community posts, resolving queries efficiently.
