Data Catalog

The Data Catalog is built from the content of your connected data warehouses. Every table has an overview page with a preview of the data contained in the table. The table can then be enriched with meta data to add more context and curration.

You can find the Data Catalog in the left hand navigation menu. Click on ‘Connections’ then choose which data connection you would like to explore.

From the table over page, admins can add descriptions to the data blocks and columns, format the columns, and add badges to the tables.

Users can explore the data, reading the descriptions and seeing a preview of the data. This lets people determine if it’s the correct starting point for their analysis. Once they are ready to start, they can click ‘Create Worksheet’.


Add a Description

  1. Navigate to the overview page.
  2. Click ‘Edit’.
  3. Click to add a description.
  4. Hit ‘Publish’ to save the changes.


Format Columns

  1. Navigate to the overview page.
  2. Click ‘Edit’.
  3. Find the column that you would like to format, and click the arrow next to the column name to open the column menu.
  4. Choose the formatting option that you would like to apply.
  5. Hit ‘Publish’ to save the changes.


Add Column Descriptions

  1. Navigate to the overview page.
  2. Click ‘Edit’.
  3. Click ‘Columns’ to go to the column page.
  4. Click to add a description.
  5. Hit ‘Publish’ to save the changes.


Add a Badge

  1. Navigate to the overview page.
  2. Click the flag icon next to the name of the table.
  3. Choose which badge you would like to apply.
  4. If you would like to, you can add a note about the badge you are adding.
  5. Click add.
